MANA Core Facilities Forum

This session is focused on the unique needs, interests, and issues of the almost 100 metabolomics core facilities and centers in North America. This will be a first-ever opportunity at the Society’s annual meeting for those groups to get together, discuss common issues, and share best practices. In this session, very brief presentations from a few representatives of these groups will be followed by panel discussion and open Q&A periods, focused on topics including QC/QA procedures, how best to provide data analysis to users, the balance between service and collaboration, targeted vs. untargeted analyses, and economics. Come join the conversation, share your insights, and find out how your colleagues at other institutions address the same problems that you are trying to solve! MANA Early-Career Member Focus Group

The Metabolomics Association of North America is a recently-formed regional metabolomics organization and international affiliate of the Metabolomics Society. Similar to the Society’s EMN, MANA is developing a group specifically aimed at serving the needs of early career metabolomics scientists in North America. This session is a focus group to allow grassroots identification of which activities and goals would be most useful for early career members, to chart a course for the future efforts of MANA’s early career group. This is a great opportunity for early career members to get involved in shaping and leading the future efforts specifically intended to help them. Welcome Reception

The Welcome Reception takes place along with Poster Session 1 in the Exhibit Hall. Please join us for light refreshments and beverages while greeting your fellow Metabolomics colleagues and meeting the sponsors for the first time. Make your way through the Hall to visit with the Poster Session 1 presenters. You will need a badge to enter the Exhibit Hall, available at the Registration Desk.
Metabolomics Society Town Hall Meeting

7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
The Town Hall Meeting is an informal opportunity to meet the Officers of the Board of Directors for the Society. There will be brief presentations by Jules Griffin (President), Nichole Reisdorph (Treasurer) and Krista Zanetti (Secretary) on the current standing of the Society and our future plans. This is open to all members of the society and there will be an informal question and answers session at the end of the presentations. This is your chance to find out how the society functions and also influence the future direction of the society so please come! The Town Hall Meeting will take place at the convention center on Monday evening following Poster Session 1.
MANA Networking Reception

The Metabolomics Association of North America is a recently-formed regional metabolomics organization and international affiliate of the Metabolomics Society focused on serving the needs of metabolomics scientists in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Key aspects of our mission include providing the opportunity for association among North American researchers in metabolomics sciences and in related fields, as well as providing opportunities for workshops and presentation of research achievements. Come join us for light snacks, a brief description of our progress to date and plans for the immediate future, the opportunity to network with other MANA members and meet MANA leaders, and the opportunity to provide your input on how MANA can best help you!
Early-Career Members Network Reception

The EMN Reception will be held on Tuesday evening from 7:00 - 8:30pm and will provide an opportunity for early-career members to network in a casual setting with other researchers and the EMN Committee. Students, postdocs and researchers who are within 5-years of their highest degree are invited to attend. The EMN Committee will announce new and ongoing programs, winners of the first round of Travel Bursaries will be celebrated, and attendees at the reception will have a chance to win prizes during a quiz/trivia session. Light snacks will be provided. Please join us as we network with our peers!
Pacific Rim Networking Reception

Interested in pursuing a postdoctoral fellowship abroad? Developing a new collaboration? Or just looking forward to networking with your peers? The Pacific Rim Reception will be held on Tuesday evening from 7 – 8:00 pm and will provide an opportunity for pan-Pacific metabolomics researchers to network in a casual setting. Metabolomics Society Members from countries that touch the Pacific Ocean are invited to attend. A cash bar will be available. Get social and mingle with us on Tuesday evening!
